Dennis Gjengaar has emerged as a key figure in filling the role on that left-hand side. New York will need the Norwegian to continue to work hard on that wing with regular starters Lewis Morgan and Cam Harper sidelined due to injuries. This short-term opportunity is allowing the young winger to showcase his potential and make his mark on the team. With the confidence of Coach Sandro behind him, Gjengaar has been able to play more freely and aggressively on the wing. As a player signed under the MLS U-22 Initiative, Gjengaar is eager to prove himself and cement a regular role in the Red Bulls lineup.

In the Red Bulls' latest match against Orlando, Gjengaar scored a goal and came close to netting a brace, ringing one off the post late in the second half showcasing his scoring ability. Gjengaar's speed and agility have been crucial assets for the Red Bulls in the early part of the season as they look to overcome the absences of Lewis Morgan. The speedy winger is seizing this chance to demonstrate his potential and make a strong case for increased playing time even when the injured starters return. Gjengaar's performance is a positive sign for the Red Bulls' depth and ability to weather injuries to key players in the early season.

A year after his transfer In February 2024, Red Bull fans hope to see more positive performances from the young Norwegian forward. Gjengaar scored his first goal for New York in a 3-0 victory over Toronto FC, and the next opponent for RB is Toronto FC at home.

*Dennis Gjengaar has been called up to the Norwegian National Team and will miss the next match against Toronto FC. This gives a chance to Julian Hall and Serge Ngoma to make their mark in the lineup come the weekend.
